Call for Candidates – Executive Committee

The Cameroon Computing society is looking for candidates for the various Executive Committee positions.

Suitable candidates should have extensive experience in the field of research and have held some leadership positions in the past.

The available positions can be found below

President: Atsa Etoundi Roger, Prof.
Shall preside at meetings of the Executive Committee and be Chair of the Executive Officers.

Secretaries:
Responsible for the general conduct of the Society’s scientific business.

Foreign/International Secretary: Ekembe Ngondi Gerard, PhD
Shall be responsible for overseeing the Society’s international business.

Treasurer: Mabopda Michele, Snr. Eng.
Shall advise and guide the Executive Committee in financial matters generally.

(Digital) Communication Officer: Abdoulaye Samir, Snr. Eng.
In charge of the development of the communication platforms for CamCompSoc. Defines the format for all official documents such as letter headings. Approves all communications to be published for CamCompSoc. Is responsible for the relation with other media such as newspapers, television and radio, e.g., no member should engage with these media without prior consulting with the Communication Officer. Defines all communication training to be undertaken by members of the association.

Funding Officer:
In charge of raising and collecting funds for CamCompSoc through liaising with relevant stakeholders including members for membership fees (if any), industry partners, funding organisations/charities, individual funders, the Cameroon government, amongst others. Defines and advertises funding schemes released by the association, e.g., studentships, research fellowships, and fund calls.

Knowledge Transfer Officer:
A Knowledge Transfer Partnership/Protocol is a project initiated by an institution in order to perform some transformation of their business process. The aim of the project is to recruit individuals or organisations who will help carry out the expected transformation.
The KTP Officer defines the rules for knowledge transfer partnerships between the members of the association. The officer records all KTPs, follows up on every ongoing partnership and provides an annual evaluation of all established KTPs in a given year.

Science & Research Officer:
In charge of gathering and organising all research carried out by individual members into a coherent whole. Defines the criteria for evaluating research and the documents necessary for this evaluation. Specifies the quality objectives for research and funding requirements for research. Provides an annual evaluation of the impact of all research activities.

Technology Transfer Officer:
In charge of identifying and evaluating projects for the creation of start-ups. Is responsible for the incubation of selected projects to their completion. Liaise with the Communication Officer to create and manage the online platform for advertising and communicating about calls.

Industry Liaison Officer:
Encourages researchers to execute research relevant to industry by helping them identify potential industrial partners and industrial applications for their research.

Ethics and Legal Officer:
Ensures that every member follows the society’s Code of Conduct. Advises the society on all legal matters.

Activities & Public Engagement Officer:
Manages the portfolio of activities to be undertaken by the society. Liaise with every committee to ensure coherence and their activities in line with the objectives of the society. Encourages members to carry out activities destined for the wider public.

Education Officer: Messi Nguele Thomas, PhD
Defines strategies for the evaluation of education methods and curriculum in Cameroon Education institutions. Define metrics for this evaluation and report on nationwide performance along with those metrics.
