About Us

The Meeting of Cameroon Researchers, Professionals, and CEOs living abroad and in the fatherland

WHO WE ARE

The creation of CmrCompSoc is motivated by a general realisation of the state of affairs in Cameroon. In the government and in many businesses, there is a general lack of professionalism. Cameroon’s society is largely consumerist as a result of the lack of vision in almost everything: we consume goods that we do not produce, including knowledge. Results of Cameroonians creative genius remain scattered over many places and reach the rest of the population in a largely segmented way. Overall, in all sectors of life, Cameroon appears fragmented, a state of affairs that does not permit coercing efforts towards a clearly identified goal. This state of fragmentation plagues also Cameroon Research. Being the very actors of Cameroon Research, we cannot simply acknowledge this state and not attempt a remedy. The initiative for a Cameroon Computer Society aims to bring together the children of Cameroon whom are undertaking research in Computer Science and other scientific fields in Cameroon and abroad, to determine how we can build a national vision of Cameroon Research that will hopefully bear fruits internationally also. Another
goal is to inspire Cameroon researchers in other fields of Science to come together in a similar way.

CamCompSoc aims to be the most inclusive possible, given that research is largely financed by the population and also industrial companies. The target members of the society are thus researchers and industry professionals, whose contributions are meant to be disseminated to the public and to industries, according to funding agreements. These activities will have a positive impact in Cameroon Education and Economic sectors.
